On 23rd March 1940, the annual session of the Muslim League was held in Minto Park Lahore. In this session, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and other leaders emphasized the significance of a separate homeland for Muslims of the subcontinent.

At that time, it was all about gaining a separate homeland for Muslims because of their different identity from Muslims. The word “Pakistan” was suggested later for this homeland.

All the Muslim leaders signed the resolution, and they directed all their efforts to achieve this goal. So, Pakistan resolution day 23rd March 1940 united all the effort and directed all the scattered thoughts towards a single purpose. And that purpose was to get a separate homeland for Muslims.

Although on 23rd March 1940 resolution presented by A.K. Fazlul Huq was passed, it took 7 years to achieve this goal. On 3 June 1947, the British announced their partition plan to divide the subcontinent into Pakistan and India.

On 14 August 1947, the aim set on Pakistan resolution day was achieved and Pakistan came into being. After a day, India got its freedom from British rulers.
