Do you know when Pakistan day is celebrated? It is celebrated on 23rd March 1940 with a public holiday all over Pakistan. But what actually happened on this day?

A wonderful and successful journey was started that reached its destination on 14 August 1947. The journey was to gain a separate homeland for Muslims of the subcontinent. This journey was not something very charming. Instead, it was full of terrifying stories of sacrifice. Just sit with your grandparents and ask them to tell some of the efforts they experienced. And you will be terrified by the bloodshed stories of partition. You will thank a hundred times that you were not born at that time. You opened your eyes in a free homeland and it is the result of efforts that began on Pakistan resolution day 23rd March 1940.

On 23rd March 1940, the annual session of the Muslim League was held in Minto Park Lahore. In this session, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and other leaders emphasized the significance of a separate homeland for Muslims of the subcontinent.

Wondering which of the great leaders presented this resolution? It was Sher-e-Bangal A.K Fazlul Huq who presented this resolution. At that time, it was all about gaining a separate homeland for Muslims because of their different identity from Muslims. The word “Pakistan” was suggested later for this homeland.

All the Muslim leaders signed the resolution, and they directed all their efforts to achieve this goal. So, Pakistan resolution day 23rd March 1940 united all the effort and directed all the scattered thoughts towards a single purpose. And that purpose was to get a separate homeland for Muslims.

Although on 23rd March 1940 resolution presented by A.K. Fazlul Huq was passed, it took 7 years to achieve this goal. On 3 June 1947, the British announced their partition plan to divide the subcontinent into Pakistan and India.  

On 14 August 1947, the aim set on Pakistan resolution day was achieved and Pakistan came into being. After a day, India got its freedom from British rulers.

The day came in the lives of Muslims of India for which they waited so long. Pakistan came into being and Muslims were overjoyed at the success of their prolonged struggles.

Who don’t who about the amazing personality of the founder of Pakistan Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah? He was selected as the first Governor-General of Pakistan. Liaquat Ali Khan was appointed as the first Prime Minister of Pakistan.  

Pakistan day is a day of light, hope, and courage. On this day, Muslim leaders made their nation crystal clear about their motives. That motive was to live in a separate homeland. Muslims could only retain their separate identity if they would be able to live in a separate country with freedom.

This freedom is not something that came with ease and comfort. Our ancestors paid the price of this freedom with their lives. The incidents of bloodshed from the partition history will give you goosebumps. Our forefathers have sacrificed their lives for our homeland Pakistan.

So, should not we value their efforts? This journey is full of struggles and determination. And no doubt, this day deserves a tribute so that our youth will be able to learn what their forefathers have achieved.

It is time to promise your loyalty to your motherland for the sake of your motherland. Being a Pakistani, take an oath to be loyal to your country.
